Prof. Mehtani brings with him a unique blend of specialization in the area of International Trade, International Business Strategy, Global Political Economy,  Economic Diplomacy, International Law, and International Negotiations. He has done extensive research in the area of Trade Diplomacy and the Political Economy of the Regional Economic Integration.

Dr Rohit Mehtani is a Professor of International Business Strategy, International Business Law,  International Business Negotiations and Trade Diplomacy and is the Head of Centre of International Negotiations and the Management Development Program Division at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in New Delhi. Prior to joining IIFT he headed the Federation of Indian Export Organizations, an assignment, which was in turn preceded by more than a decade long stint with the corporate sector mostly in the International Business Divisions.

Besides having studied for master’s degree in Global Political Economy and Economic Diplomacy at the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Hull in England as a British Chevening Scholar, and MBA in International Trade at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in Delhi, he also completed his MBA in Asia Pacific International Business at the Deakin University in Australia as a dual degree along with M.S. in Management Consultancy at BITS Pilani. He is also an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Punjab University, and Delhi University. He obtained his Doctorate in International Studies in the domain of Trade Diplomacy and studied International Negotiations at the Harvard Law School in United States of America, Public International Law & WTO Law at the British Institute, and LL.M. in Corporate Law at the National Law University.

He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Directors and the Academy of International Business. He has been awarded the Dewang Mehta Trophy twice for the ‘Best Business School Teacher in International Business’.

Professor Mehtani is a visiting professor to several premier business schools and institutions in India and abroad. He conducted an extensive market survey in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean, that is, in the WANA Region and Southern Europe, and in the East and Far East Asia. He has been on the governing council of the Consultancy Development Centre, New Delhi and has led several exporters’ delegation at the highest level including the one to South Africa in 1997 that accompanied the then Prime Minister of India. Most recently, he was part of a delegation to the fourth India-EU Forum organized by the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Brussels and led the IIFT team for conducting a Program for the government officials of South Africa at Pretoria in 2015 and at Seychelles in 2013.  At IIFT New Delhi he has conducted several management development programs for the senior executives from the leading Indian and multinational corporations, officials from the public domain, civil servants, foreign diplomats, and is Program Director for the WTO and Trade Policy Program and International Negotiations conducted regularly for the Senior IAS Officers. He is a prolific writer and writes regularly in reputed journals and has spoken at important national and international forums. His book on International Business (McGraw Hill) co-authored with Prof Charles W. Hill of the University of Washington and Prof Hult of the Michigan State University is used as a standard text in leading B-Schools.
