Internships as Part of the M.A. (Economics) Curriculum

As an integral component of the M.A. (Economics) programme, students are required to undertake a summer internship at the end of their first year. This internship, typically spanning 6–8 weeks, provides practical exposure to the functioning of organisations engaged in economic research, policy formulation, trade, finance, and related sectors.

Through this experiential learning opportunity, students apply classroom concepts to real-world problems, work with industry data, and gain insights into contemporary economic and trade practices. Host organisations include government bodies, think tanks, research institutions, financial organisations, corporates, and international agencies.

The internship not only strengthens analytical and problem-solving skills but also enhances professional readiness, builds industry networks, and often leads to further research opportunities or career placements.
